University of Salford: Young Person's Award

The University of Salford is an integral part of the local community. With 20,000 students and nearly 2,500 staff, we try to make a positive contribution to Salford, its citizens and the wider region, in a variety of ways. These range from volunteering projects working in local communities to senior members of staff contributing to decision making bodies that affect the lives of local citizens. We engage with a wide range of people and organisations in Greater Manchester, as well as regionally, nationally and internationally. These include schools, government and special interest groups.

The Greater Manchester High Sheriff's Police Trust: Manchester Peace Award

The Greater Manchester High Sheriff's Police Trust is a partnership of individuals, companies and voluntary or statutory agencies determined to make a contribution to Greater Manchester by helping to reduce crime and the fear of crime in our communities. In partnership with Greater Manchester Police, community based crime prevention, community safety, drug misuse prevention and school liaison initiatives can take place. We believe that by working together we can find practical solutions to our region’s crime challenges, reduce social exclusion and bring about a lasting improvement to our environment.

Peace Full Media Limited: Community Cohesion/Diversity Award

Peace Full Media was set up in 2009 under the umbrella of CARISMA to run PeaceFM, a community radio station, after a successful OFCOM application for a 5 year licence. The station had been originally created by CARISMA with help from many others as a part of the annual PeaceWeek. It had three successful 4 week broadcasts running concurrently with PeaceWeek, which led to a huge demand from the community for a permanent community station. The station, PeaceFM, is meeting a huge social interest for the local communities of inner South Manchester. PeaceFM is totally independent and is currently surviving the economic strain via the valuable volunteers and the faithful sponsors and advertisers.
